CEFR Level A2 – Elementary

A2 is still basic, but learners can manage short, routine exchanges in familiar situations.

What a learner can usually do at A2

  • talk in simple terms about family, work and hobbies
  • understand short, clear messages and announcements
  • handle simple shopping and travel situations
  • describe in simple words their background and needs

Here are a few short German sentences that match the general difficulty of level A2.

  • Ich brauche mehr Zeit
  • Ich habe viel Arbeit
  • Ich kaufe ein Ticket
  • Ich suche ein Zimmer
  • Ich besuche meine Freunde
